We use Bitly to manage our enterprise redirects. We have developed a standard for always sending QR codes through bitly redirects. This allows us to fix typos or update destinations after the QR code is printed and in use. This saves us from having to discard print runs that ended up with the wrong destination.

This means we need to make it easier to generate QR codes - Bitly’s system is intended for technical engineers, not harried marketers. We developed a wizard-based system that generated complex attribution tags, added them to the destination URL with fewer errors, and provide a properly formatted QR code and redirect for the user to download and print.

This is particularly helpful for users who only need to generate two or three a month- they don’t have to remember how to operate a complex system. Local admin rights let us review and repair any errors, but the simplicity and power of the system is that it’s just a simple wrapper around Bitly’s APIs, giving us a solid service with as little technical support as possible.
